February is Pet Dental Health Month, and it’s the perfect opportunity to express the importance of preventive oral care in companion animals to our clients. Pet oral health hasn’t always been at the forefront of veterinary care and many pet owners may think it’s just another service to pay for. It’s important our clients understand that what might just seem like dog breath could actually, if left untreated, cause infection in the heart, lungs or kidneys, or even death.
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has developed a video pet owners can watch with Dr. Sheldon Rubin to learn to teach a dog or cat to accept tooth brushing. Dr. Rubin also explains the dangers of periodontal disease.
