Dr. Ortiz earned his Veterinary degree in 1983 in Mexico, where he was born and raised. He attended a postgraduate program in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, in 1988. He then completed two years of the clinical curriculum in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery from the University of Missouri, in 1989-1991. He has worked at Wright Veterinary since 1991, and is the Director of Surgery.
Now that his three children are grown, Dr. Ortiz shares his home with his wife Phoebe, their two dogs, Jack and Khali, and their cat Fluffy. Dr. Ortiz enjoys the outdoors and especially enjoys cycling. He sets goals each year, and his current goal is to ride 3000 miles this year! He also enjoys hiking, traveling, "fixing things", and lately has been dabbling in gardening.
He is delighted that his daughter Becky is following in his footsteps, and close to earning her veterinary degree in 2022 from the University of Pennsylvania.
