Our Dedicated Team of Nursing Staff
The WVMC nursing staff consists of thirteen CVT's and thirteen technician assistants who work together as a team to care for your pet. You'll see us starting appointments for the Doctor's, triaging your pet during an emergency, and discharging your pet from the hospital, we even have our own appointments throughout the day. We work in the pharmacy, the laboratory, radiology, and in surgery monitoring your pet's anesthesia. While your pet is in the hospital we monitor their progress, perform all treatments requested by the Doctor, and provide tender, loving care. Eight of our technicians have been employed with WVMC for over seven years with our four newest technicians joining our staff in 2007.
A CVT is a Certified Veterinary Technician. A CVT has graduated from a Veterinary Technology program approved by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), as well as, has taken and passed the National Board Exam to become licensed as a CVT. A CVT is required to renew their license every two years and must complete continuing education to do so. At WVMC, although CVT's and assistants work together to care for your pet, it is a CVT who monitors your pet's anesthesia, examines laboratory specimens, and is “in charge” of you pets care while in the hospital.
